If you didn’t burn yours in the ‘Sixties, you might want to put it away now. “Bras cause cancer. It’s open and shut,” says medical researcher Syd Singer.

The Singers became cancer sleuths in 1991. On the day Soma discovered a lump in her breast, the husband-wife team was studying the effects of Western medicine on Fijians. In the shower, Syd noticed that Soma’s shoulders and were outlined by dark red grooves. He remembered a puzzled Fijian woman asking his wife about her brassiere: “Doesn’t it feel tight?”

“You get used to it,” Soma had replied.

Could bras be constricting tissue, Syd wondered, hampering lymph drainage and causing degeneration?

Soma decided to stop wearing hers. But when Syd searched the medical literature he found no known causes of cancer, which rarely appears before a woman’s mid- thirties, most often after 40. The highest death rates from cancer are in North America and northern Europe, with the developing world catching up fast.

The World Health Organization calls chemical toxins the primary cause of cancer. But poisons accumulating in tissue are normally flushed by clear lymph fluid into large clusters of lymph nodes nestling in the armpits and upper chest. The Singers found that “because lymphatic vessels are very thin, they are extremely sensitive to pressure and are easily compressed.” Chronic minimal pressure on the can cause lymph valves and vessels to close.

“Less oxygen and fewer nutrients are delivered to the cells, while waste products are not flushed away,” the Singers noted. After 15 or 20 years of bra-constricted lymph drainage, cancer can result.

Looking at other cultures, Soma and Syd were struck by the low incidence of cancer in poorer nations awash in pesticides dumped by northern nations. They didn’t find peasant women wearing push-up bras. Instead, they discovered that the Maoris of New Zealand integrated into white culture have the same rate of cancer, while Australia’s marginalized aboriginals have virtually no cancer. The same trend held for “Westernized” Japanese, Fijians and other bra-converted cultures.

In Dressed To Kill: The Link Between Cancer and Bras, the researchers also observed that just before a woman begins her period, estrogen floods her system, causing her to swell. If she continues wearing the same bra size, life-saving lymphatics will be even more tightly squished. Had they found the “estrogen link” to cancer?

Childless women never fully develop their breast-cleansing lymphatic system. Nor do women who have never breast-fed. Working women who wear bras everyday and postpone having children could be at higher risk, the Singers warn.

Even worse, a young woman’s coming of age is often “marked” by her first bra. Like the ancient Chinese practice of foot-binding, “breast-binding” at puberty can eventually lead to severe medical complications.

Could bras be the “missing link” in a growing epidemic of cancer? Beginning in May, 1991, Soma and Syd Singer’s 30-month Bra and Cancer study interviewed some 4,000 women in five major U.S. cities. All were Caucasian of mostly “medium income” ranging in age from 30 to 79. Half had been diagnosed with cancer.

Almost all of the women interviewed were unhappy with the size or shape of their Women who chose a bra for appearance, ignoring soreness and swelling, had twice the rate of cancer of those who did not.

But the most startling statistic was how many women who wore their daytime bras to sleep contracted cancer. So did one out seven women strapped into a bra more than 12 hours a day. Bra-free women have just a one in 168 chance of being diagnosed with cancer, says Singer. The same as bra-free men.

“Don’t sleep in your bra!” Syd Singer pleads. “Women who want to avoid cancer should wear a bra for the shortest period of time possible – certainly for less than 12 hours daily.”

Syd also submits that some 80% of bra-wearers who experience lumps, cysts and tenderness will see those symptoms vanish, “within a month of getting rid of the bra.”

Not everyone is ready to hang up her halter. As one woman told the team, “My will sag all the way to my navel without a bra.” But Surgeon Christine Haycock at the New Jersey College of Medicine says that inherited traits – not ligaments or size – are the reason some give in to gravity. Bouncing bosoms help clear the lymphatics.

Well aware that their findings were “explosive,” the Singers sent their survey results to the heads of America’s most prestigious cancer organizations and institutes. None responded. Like the cancer business, the bra business is huge. Multiply how many worldwide women buy several $25 bras every year and you end up with a multiple of the $6 billion-a-year U.S. bra business.

Syd Singer says that establishment censorship of the bra-breast cancer connection is killing women. Pointing to the biggest commonality among cancer patients, he’s emphatic that it’s bra-squeezed lymphatics.

Going bra-less for all occasions, Soma began dressing to de-emphasize her She also began regular massage and bicycle riding, vitamin and herbal supplementation, and drinking only purified water.

Two months later, her lump disappeared.

At the first frightening sign of a lump, an angry Syd Singer says, “women should take their bras off before they take their off.” Why wait, when you can liberate your lymphatics now?

IF YOU MUST WEAR A BRA

Push-up and sports bras are out. Choose loose-fitting cotton bras. Make sure you can slip two fingers under the shoulder-straps and side- panels. The higher the side-panels, the more severe the restriction of major lymph nodes. Don’t wear this disastrous device to sleep. Take it off at home. Massage your every time you remove your bra. Sing your lymphatics into health – or at least breathe deeply.

There are two things in life that I’ll never really understand; bigamy, and the mechanics of a bra. The wife finds my ineptness hilarious, she was rolling on the floor last night as I struggled with a multitude of hooks; I should really have passed her the valium.

For me, that was the least amusing moment of my life, and I’ve met Tim Lovejoy.

Whenever I feel depressed, I find the quotes of Ian Holloway are always therapeutic. The great man has been responsible for more quality lines than Pete Doherty.

The Plymouth manager’s mirth masks an underlying intelligence, like a beauty queen dying her hair ginger to fend off an unwanted suitor. I refuse to underestimate the modern day Socrates; I’m piling into Plymouth at 17/10 to knock out Watford.

The last time Middlesbrough met Manchester United, Gareth Southgate was quick to condemn Ronaldo’s propensity to greet the turf like a long lost relative.

Sir Alex was equally unequivocal in his counter, labelling the novice manager ‘naïve’, which as far as i’m aware, is not even a real word. There are an abundance of words that adequately sum up the 3/4 for another Manchester United win, I’ve settled for ‘pulchritudinous’.

It would not surprise me in the slightest if the contentious Ronaldo opened the scoring at 7/1. The orange winger is currently so hot; it would take a whole tub of Canesten to cool him down.

Chelsea’s grip on the Premiership has been loosened by the often maligned John O’Shea. Frank Lampard found it particularly ironic, as most of his goals have been assisted by John’s lesser known brother, Rick.

I’ve had a pop at Lamps in the past, but I must praise him for defending Adebayor in the aftermath of the Carling Cup. I’m not sure I believe his claim that he was never smacked; something must have given him the munchies. I’ll be taking the family out for a slap-up meal if Chelsea beat Tottenham at 4/9; they can even ‘go large’.

Jose Mourinho should steer clear of the card tables. The Special One looked completely bewildered as Shevchenko missed another sitter last week; the only way the Chelsea manager would ever win at poker is if he played the West Ham lads. A bet on Lampard to net the opener at 13/2 is the equivalent of getting your hands on a big pair.

Blackburn host Manchester City in a tie that has ‘home win’ written all over it. The Rovers have already hammered Psycho’s gang twice this season; the odds of 19/20 would need to be lying seductively on a couch wearing a Velcro brassiere to be any more appealing.

Manchester City’s strike-force is so lightweight, wafer-thin model Kate Moss would be a clear favourite if they were ever to meet in a ruck. Blackburn are 6/5 to keep a clean sheet, dig in.

I’m often asked why I appear reluctant to share my expertise on the Scottish football scene. I can assure you it’s not a result of xenophobia; some of my best friends know Scottish people.

Celtic are on a six match unbeaten run against Rangers; they look a cracking investment at 21/20 to continue their recent outright ownership. There’s a real lesson to be learned here, money earned from an FA Cup match is equal to money gained from park football.

The weekend accer is so inspiring; it makes me believe that one day all men will be free from discrimination, injustice and persecution for trying to lift a bra over a lady’s head. Chelsea, Blackburn, Plymouth and Celtic are the selections, the payout is an ample 12/1.

There are a variety of brand names in the designer jeans sector. In general terms buying jeans here will be down to the brands that people like or aspire to and the style they want to wear. Diesel and Evisu jeans, for example, have established a strong market amongst younger shoppers whilst the Armani Jeans brand name appeals to all ages and offers classic styles with a designer look and
feel. Lambretta jeans often prove popular with people looking for a certain ’street’ look.

Considerations to make when buying a pair of designer jeans

Some people like to stick with a tried and tested brand of jeans whilst others buy based on the style, design and look and therefore may not be that concerned by buying from one brand name. As well as having a lot of designers to choose from, shoppers also have to decide on other factors such as style, colour and materials.

For example, some people only like to wear button fly jeans whilst others like to have a zip. Some prefer a bootleg cut, some prefer a comfort fit whilst others like a straight leg or a slim fit. A lot of the decisions to be made will be down to personal preference although body shape obviously plays a part — some jeans brands simply don’t seem to look good on certain body shapes whilst
others will fit just fine.

There is also a lot of choice when it comes for materials and looks. Colours with jeans range from black down to dark blue and then to light denim. Some jeans are distressed, some are stone-washed, some are faded and some are pre-treated to give a ‘dirty’ look. It is possible to create two completely different looks with two different pairs of jeans — one pair can make the wearer look
smart-casual whilst another can make them look completely casual.

Getting the right quality and fit with designer jeans

With most designer jeans being more expensive than standard jeans it is important to think about issues such as quality before buying a pair. Luckily, quality is generally of a high level here — designers rarely put their names to poor quality materials and workmanship.

Buying jeans online is a popular way of getting hold of designer jeans at favourable prices but this can make it harder to ascertain fit. Some will use the high street as a glorified fitting room, trying on a pair before whizzing home to buy online at a discount. In practice, it is worth taking some time to research the jeans before you buy them to get it right. For example, take some time to read
up on the detailing on the jeans. A good e-tailer will also list all of the measurements. It’s important to pay attention to these measurements as they will help ensure the perfect fit.

Remember that perhaps the easiest way in which to check the measurements is to compare them with the measurements of a pair of jeans that you currently own. This will show you how the jeans will potentially fit. Of course, if you are buying jeans from a favourite brand then you will already probably have a good idea as to how well they will fit.

Conclusion

The key factor to consider is how good the jeans feel when wearing them. Jeans should be comfortable to wear — if they are not comfortable then they will rapidly find their way into that dark, dusty section of your wardrobe! With so many choices on offer here, however, there is almost certainly a pair of designer jeans to suit.

We are often unhappy with one or more parts of our body, and the most common problem seems to be with women and the size of their. Wanting bigger breasts, to firm and plump up sagging and correcting uneven size or shape of the are common issues. The modern world is filled with images of perfect women, and of course these images are often air brushed to enhance the natural shape of a woman.

Even in the movies, things are often not quite as they appear, and it is said that Julia Roberts wore a gel filled bra to enhance her cleavage and increase her bust size in the Erin Brokovic film. Padded bras and push up bras can do wonders for enhancing and uplifting breasts, and giving us a great cleavage. But this is often not enough, we want to be proud of our bodies and look at ways to increase bust size.

After childbirth, women often lose shape and fullness in their breasts, may lose self esteem about their body and experience a loss of self confidence. Diet and weight loss is another factor which causes a reduction in size. Women of all ages want to feel good about themselves. This can become more important at certain turning points in their lives, say after turning 40, or after a relationship break up.

Breast enlargement surgery is becoming more affordable, especially with cheap cosmetic surgery abroad making it an option for more women. But for those not willing to go under the knife, there are some alternatives to surgery.

Some cosmetic doctors are offering injections which plump up the. These are similar to dermal fillers which have been used for many years to fill out lines and wrinkles on the face. The effects last for several months and then the injections would need to be repeated in order to maintain the enhancement.

You may notice that at certain times of the month, your are much firmer and fuller due to hormonal changes in the body. One way to get bigger naturally is with enhancement pills. Some natural enhancement pills are based on plant phytoestrogens which safely mimic the effects of real hormones, and stimulate new tissue growth.

More women are turning to natural enhancement products, due to the cost and possible problems with enlargement surgery. enhancement pills are a practical alternative to surgery, with gradual results over a period of time. You can get bigger breasts, increase your bust size naturally by up to 3 cup sizes without surgery, or simply firm and uplift your bust.

Several women nationwide have come forward claiming Victoria’s Secret bras are causing severe bumps, hives, and rashes under their. Many of these women have been loyal Victoria’s Secret customers for 20+ years. Victoria’s Secret is well known to provide high quality women’s lingerie products, including bras, at a premium price.

This potential class action lawsuit against Victoria’s Secret was prompted after a woman’s lawyer in Ohio had her recently purchased Victoria’s Secret bras tested scientifically in a laboratory, which revealed positive traces of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is a critical ingredient in the production of hundreds of items that improve everyday life. However, little or no formaldehyde should be present in the final product.

In a statement sent to ABC News, Victoria’s Secret said it is investigating all of the complaints but will continue to stand behind its products as not containing formaldehyde in any of its bras or other undergarments.

The purpose of any class action lawsuit is to give the common man or woman the ability to take on the largest corporate or private entities, who can obivously afford the very best legal services, and have a chance of redressing the wrong done by these entities. It is important to remember that even though the actual damage or cost to the individual class member may be small, the illicit gain to the corporate entity can be huge if done to hundreds or even hundreds of thousands of class members.

The Humphreys & Peterson Law Firm in Texas is dedicated in protecting the rights of all consumers from manufacturers who sell defective products. If you believe that you may have purchased a defective Victoria’s Secret bra which has caused you an injury, it is important that you immediately contact a highly qualified attorney to protect your legal options.

Women face critical decisions every day, from which low-fat yoghurt to buy to how to let the guy at work know you’re interested without seeming desperate.

But there’s one conundrum women rarely discuss: whether or not to wear a padded bra.

When I was 15 I suffered the public ignominy of making the wrong decision. At Bondi Beach with Ben Piper, the best looking boy in Year 10, my dream date came unstuck the moment we entered the water. Surfacing from the first wave, we noticed half a dozen handkerchiefs floating about.

The source of the hankies was my bikini: preoccupied with looking voluptuous, I forgot I’d packed my bikini top with my mother’s lace heirlooms. And now those little white patches of shame surrounded me. Ben was speechless. The date was over.

While no sane woman would build up her bosom with square bits of material, the incident highlights the problem with padded bras: they’re fine as long as you never have to take them off.

Consider this scenario: you’ve been seeing a guy for a few weeks, wearing outfits replete with generous-looking cup-sizes. Tonight’s the night he’ll stay over. The moment arrives for you to reveal yourself for the first time: but what happens when your full curves are revealed as modest mounds? Can you be accused of misrepresentation? (Of course, if the guy accuses you of false advertising, explain you were angling for commercial advantage. Then kick him out).

When it comes to lingerie, your options are stark but simple: face the truth about your size and shop around for a flattering cut; or wear a padded bra and insist on keeping it on, come rain, hail or shine, until you’re certain he’s fallen in love with you – and save the hankies for the tears of joy.

See partner4real for more health, diet, nutrition and online dating tips for singles.

Sweating is a natural body function, however why do some people sweat more than others? Sweating is necessary, its purpose is to control and maintain our body temperature. Sweating is normal and completely necessary. Sweat, which is also called perspiration, is a secretion of fluids that is composed mostly of water. In this particular case you are sweating excessively in one area of your body.

The first question is why does this happen? Why do I sweat more here rather than in different areas of my body? To clarify the medical term for extreme sweating is called “hyperhidrosis” or what is more commonly known as excessive sweating.

The nervous system which is controlled by the brain makes a decision where and how much to sweat, this is different for different people. Each of us can sweat excessively in different areas of our bodies for example hands, feet, or back etc. This is also true for those who do not suffer from excessive sweating. So when you sweat in one location over another it occurs because this is a more effective sweating gland for you.

Basically here is what happens when excessive sweating occurs. The Sympathetic Nervous System goes into overdrive. It is not completely understood or known what exactly causes excessive sweating. With that said there are a few indicators.

It has been noted that people sweat less at night, exercise is highly recommended for people with “hyperhidrosis” for less sweating afterwards. Other factors that can lead to excessive sweating are smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee, having too much salt in your diet, and to top it off eating too many sweets. All of the above can increase sweating. Now for the shocker, a healthy diet can actually reduce sweating.

The reduction in sweating by avoiding the above happens because you reduce the stimulus to your nervous system, hence keeping your muscles and mind relaxed so your body feels that it doesn’t need to sweat due to an overactive nervous system. The reality is this. You can implement different techniques to stop excessive sweating. However remember there is no one method that fits all.

I breastfed my daughter for four years and increased my cup size by three sizes; even five years later, my are still this large. I really don’t think that this is the best reason to breastfeed, but it DID make a catchy title for this article. As an immunologist, I’d read that breastfeeding protected babies from diseases by transferring some immune molecules from the mother to the child. I had also learned in my psychology class about the monkey studies that showed how important touch was to a baby. For these reasons as well, I agreed with many experts that breastfeeding was the right choice for my child.

Breastfeeding Benefits

After having my daughter, I soon learned the benefits of sleeping with her and breastfeeding; it allowed me to get almost normal amounts of sleep and allowed me to get her to sleep without crying. I will say that after four years I really did get tired of the whole thing, but the benefit of that seemed to be that my body naturally weaned her without trauma. One day the milk just stopped flowing and there were no tears on either side. My mother did not feed me, so I was a little worried what it would be like for my daughter to breastfeed so long that she remembered it. So far she seems to only have fond memories of the experience. I also got out of jury duty for many years, so that was a surprise benefit for me as well.

Breastfeeding Equipment

Although I did not work out of an office at the time I was breastfeeding, I did use a pump on occasion to “pump and dump” or to increase milk production. I went through three pumps, each time spending more money and finding that they were more comfortable, faster, and more efficient. If I had to do it over, I would start with the most expensive one I could buy, preferably a used high-end pump if that was all I could afford.

Breastfeeding and Work

Some people have claimed that the push towards breastfeeding in many parts of the US is just a hidden way to keep women at home again. As a feminist, I can see why people may think this, but I do not agree that it has to be the case. I do believe that it is best to have a parent or close reliable relative with a baby, but even if that is not psychologically or financially a possibility the mother can still breastfeed and work with the aid of a good pump. Many states now are implementing laws that require work places to be pump friendly, so as this trend increases, as I believe it will, working and breastfeeding will be even easier for women.

Everyone has a pair of jeans. It could be that favorite pair you’ve had forever, or a brand new pair you just bought with Sunday newspaper coupons. But everyone has jeans they wear and love. They’re comfortable, durable, and follow fashion trends as closely as women’s shoes. Many offices now even allow jeans as part of their work wear, something that would have been unheard of when jeans began to be popular. In fact, during the 1950s, some restaurants and movie theaters refused to admit customers wearing jeans.

Jeans weren’t always as fashionable as they are today. In fact, they were originally used as sturdy trousers worn by men and women in factories during World War II. In the 1950s, however, teenagers began wearing jeans as a form of rebellion against conformity, and by the 1970s, jeans were a staple of fashion wardrobes. They’re available throughout the world, but typically, jeans are considered a part of American culture, like baseball and apple pie.

One of the major changes that has occurred in the jean industry is the change from standard trouser-style jeans worn by men and women prior to the 1950s. In the beginning, if you wanted to break in your jeans, you had to do it the old fashioned way, which either involved wearing them frequently for a long time, or dragging them on concrete and washing them frequently to make them look more worn.

The introduction of bell bottom jeans, for example, proved that jeans could be as much a fashion statement as a durable pair of pants. Now styles range from skin tight to large and baggy, available in every color imaginable. You can get jeans with embroidery, patches, rhinestones, or even brand new jeans that look as though they’ve been worn for twenty years. There are designers who specialize in jeans (besides Levi and Wranglers).

These changes have come thanks to the advances in clothing production. Jeans can be mass produced, and with the different machines and denim fabrics available, the only limit to jeans is the designers’ imagination! In fact, the customer can become the designer, as well. You can take your favorite pair of jeans and customize them to your liking. Add embellishments, turn them into shorts, or grab some fabric pens and draw all over the fabric to turn them into a piece of art.

Because of the variety of jeans that are available, they can offer a professional looking alternative to dress pants in the office, particularly for women. There are even some dark washed jeans that can be mistaken for black dress pants! And since they are so popular, and can be more professional looking, offices are becoming more welcoming of jeans around the office, even if it isn’t “casual Friday.”

As far as jeans have come in almost seventy years, who knows what they’ll look like seventy, fifty, or even twenty years from now? It could be that, as fashion develops, the jeans people wear years from now won’t be recognized by the population as what we know as “jeans.” For all we know, the evolution of jeans will continue, and they’ll become the more formal wear, leaving “dress pants” hanging in boutiques and closets in favor of pants that started as simply sturdy work pants for factory workers.
